✩ — includes: narumi gen x gn!reader. fluff. no cws. wc: 559. this was longer than i expected tbh,,, but yeah. definitely another character study piece for gen so my early apologies if he seems ooc but i do think this is very likely of him. reblogs and feedback are very much appreciated !!

no one in the whole defense force could’ve suspected that the narumi gen, captain of the first division, would also have his moments.

“watcha playin’ there?”

you walked up behind him as gen focused on his phone while sitting on the couch, clearly immersed in whatever game he had open this time. it’s not really a rare sight to see him like this, because if ever he’s not playing on his console, he’ll be playing on his phone and vice versa. 

he jumps out of surprise at your sudden question, immediately moving his phone away from your view. you looked at him in confusion and easily got one conclusion: he’s hiding something from you. “gen, you didn’t answer my question. i was just asking what you were playing,” you said with a pout as you lean closer to him to see the phone.

gen moves it farther from your line of vision, trying to come up with an excuse. “you don’t need to know! it’s nothing,” he says, which makes you even more confused. your boyfriend always told you what game he’s playing whenever you asked—even going so far as to explain the said game to you in spite of you not really understanding it so easily at first.

"oh, really?” you made the terrible error of leaning in even more, which caused you to fall onto the couch and onto gen. nevertheless, this offered you a great opportunity to grab his phone.

well, you had to wrestle your boyfriend for it first.

“just let me have a peek!” 

“i said it’s nothing!”

you both fought like two kids over a phone but you eventually won (despite the grave struggle you had to go through to achieve victory). “eh? what’s this?” you asked him. gen sat away from you, as if he were embarrassed. you observed the screen of his phone, trying to figure out what type of game he’s playing. it was certainly different from what gen usually plays, which included boss levels and all sorts of monsters.

yet this one... it had a little room on it? some furniture here and there too. and as you looked more closely, you noticed there were two little people in it, you guessed they were living in this space. but what piqued your curiosity even more was the way they looked.

“oh my god.”

gen could already feel the question coming. and he feels sick to his stomach because of this whole ordeal.

“gen, is this... me? and is the other person you?”

you turned your head to look at him, only to be greeted with gen looking away. he had his arm rested upon the arm rest of the couch, palm covering the lower half of his face. he sheepishly nods in response. “aww, gen! you’re so cute!” you moved closer to him, pinching his cheek. he yelps at the sudden gesture, telling you to stop it or else he’d give it back tenfold (but his red tinted ears say otherwise).

the game on his phone continues to run as the two people (you and gen—and gen did his very best to match both of your appearances) have their own little world. it was really adorable; you technically have a little home in his phone.

who knew that the captain of the first division could actually be a softie?

I just had to break up with my bf. Can you give me info about the dachshund with heart motifs for comfort? Mostly brown and light pink for the heart things. They're one of my favorites. Because they were in a lps series i watched as a kid and i'm pretty sure the one I have rn is one a friend gave me? I don't remember where i got them i just remember one of my friends had one and i really wanted one so.

I also really like that uh. Grey and pink cat. And the Great Dane with the pretty colorful patterns. But these r classics I'm pretty sure they were already posted on your blog

honestly i love this multi-pack to pieces ... i greatly enjoy anything heart-shaped or that has heart motifs ... one of my favorite things ever fr.

i'm not sure which cat and great dane you're referring to. maybe cat #1326? the one that came in the clinic playset. as for the great dane ... i'm not sure !! if you have more info i could try and look some more :3c

a/n: i'm back! i missed writing so much!!! 😁 also, the reader is actually more race neutral because throughout the fic i didn't really describe her physically, just her personality attributes. i'm also not afraid to say this is a million times better than part one, i've grown much i feel and i'd love if this reaches people!

here we go again, you thought to yourself as you situated yourself beside jacob. it was the one night yz agency had to get along with everyone else. so there you sat, dress clinging to your body and stomach growling.

jacob heard it, laughing under his breath as he dug into his blazer pocket and pulled out a piece of candy. he looked over, handed it to you, and smiled as you popped the candy in your mouth.

“this fucking thing is taking forever,” you groaned, almost forgetting the dress you had on as you slumped in your seat. jacob nodded in agreement, leaning forward, his head hitting the table.

“how hard is it for someone to go on stage and talk? hell, i could even do it. i might do it…” jacob said, turning his head to look at you. you gave him a smile, patting his head.

“you sure could, buddy, do it.”

you pointed at the stage, wiggling your finger slightly so he could continue. jacob was about to say something, but eric came to sit beside the two of you. he plopped down in the seat, almost out of breath. your eyes shot to him, eyebrow-raising in confusion.

“how late am i?” he asked, trying to catch his breath. you looked at jacob, and a similar mischievous smirk was on his face.

“you missed it. dinner is over with," jacob said, shrugging his shoulders.

eric looked at him, eyes widening. “dinner’s over?” he whisper-yelled, almost in a panic. “i didn't eat all day.”

you were about to say something until your stomach rumbled. eric heard it loud and clear, squinting his eyes in your direction. “you fucking liars.”

you pouted, looking down at your stomach, and then at jacob. “what a buzzkill…”

you and jacob both heard your names as younghoon approached. younghoon didn't spare eric a glance as he asked the two of you, “how is tonight going?”

“where's the food? i came strictly for the food,” you said, crossing your arms over your chest.

“one of cre.ker’s bigger agents is late, and their boss stepped out, so we can't start until their ceo returns, and we're all settled. typical cre.ker though, always running on their time, never considerate for anyone else,” younghoon said, crossing his arms as he looked at the other ceo’s. “note how everyone is here except them.”

younghoon finally gave eric a stare and scoffed before walking away from the table.

“what did i do?” eric asked as he looked at you. you shook your head, fixing a strand of hair on his head.

“nothing, he's just the biggest cre.ker anti.”

claps were heard around the place as you brought your hand down from his head. you instinctively clapped along, looking at jacob as he nodded to the stage. you looked over, seeing it finally beginning. you almost cheered, knowing that the food portion was growing closer.

or so you thought… it felt as if speeches about the same damn thing continued to drag on. eric was close to falling asleep, and jacob was rubbing his eyes, trying to stay awake. it wasn't until it was cre.ker’s ceo's turn to speak. as he spoke, you felt yourself nodding off; that was until you heard a name you thought you didn't have to hear again.

Brucepoll. Okay, I am going to handicap myself in this one and make me keep it to actual work in the Batman title, I think, and only post-Crisis. So my first move is to define what periods each writer had on Batman and what's famous/I like from each:

James Tynion IV: v2 8-28, v3 85-117. And immediately I have no opinion as I haven't read any of his post Flashpoint Batman. Quickly scanning through I see he wrote The Joker War and Fear State.

My feelings on him: honestly I don't have any yet, this one it's going to be too hard for me to dip in and out of.

Tom King: v3 1-85. Same. I know he built up to Bruce and Selina marrying and then editorial required him to destroy that, but haven't touched any of this yet.

My feelings on him: I suspect I am actually going to enjoy this run from what other people have said and then I will feel betrayed (as other people were). The allure of lots of Bruce/Selina may pull me in though.

Scott Snyder: v2 1-51. Court of the Owls. How do you feel about the Court of the Owls. Because Snyder is gonna keep writing about them.

Oh Snyder. I think you write interesting Bruce, I just don't particularly like the Court.

Grant Morrison: 655-685, 701-702 (skipping the Dick!Bats stuff). Highlights of Morrison's run include Batman and Son (aka Heeeeere's Damian!), Resurrection of Ra's al Ghul, the return of the Club of Heroes, Batman RIP, and the resurrection of the concept of Batman of Zurr-En-Arrh.

I am politely going to not swear in public, but uh I don't think Morrison writes particularly good Bruce. Also he's the architect of all the 'actually Bruce has been dividing his personality up into separate mind palaces that come out when he activates them for various reasons' and while that is indeed incredibly Brucelike I'm not too fond of what it's done to Batman storytelling.

Judd Winick: 626-650 (also skipping Dick!Bats). Obviously, Under the Red Hood. Other stuff in his run includes War Games and the storyline where Tim's undercover as Caroline Hill.

Winick really likes conflicted, judgmental, my-way-or-the-highway Bruce a lot. And there aren't any real soft edges to his Bruce. Not my favourite.

Jeph Loeb: 608-619. This means the only Loeb in play for my rating is Hush. Fascinating Loeb never wrote another Batman or 'Tec run (he does have The Long Halloween of course).

Putting aside my feelings about Thomas Elliot, I actually like the way Loeb wrote Bruce in Hush? It spends a lot of time reflecting on his analysis skills and his connections and his detective work.

Ed Brubaker: 582-586, 591-607. The lead into Bruce Wayne: Murderer/Fugitive and the title itself. The complementary half to Rucka's overlapping 'Tec run.

Oooh. Brubaker gets Bruce during a period where he's trying to isolate himself, but he also writes how Bruce has trouble with that. He's got some great character piece work in this, and solid detective problem-solving storytelling. He wrote the 'I am Bruce Wayne' revelation.

Doug Moench: 481-559. The most famous highlights of this period are writing the Batman issues for the entirety of Knightfall/Knightquest/Knightsend, Prodigal, Contagion, Legacy, Cataclysm and Aftershock. (Moench also wrote basically all of pre-Crisis Jason Todd period)

How do you even encapsulate what Moench did over this period? He broke Bruce all the way down and built him back up. He wrote Bruce building back to having a family and connections. He wrote Alfred's return. He's never hugely stood out for me as a writer during this period though - he's just there. I often have to check covers to see who was writing for his stories.

Alan Grant: 448-449, 455-480. This basically covers Tim's novice period. It's bookended by Batman: Identity Crisis at one end and To the Father I Never Knew at the other.

So flipping through these my first memory is "there is a LOT of Harold in this" and there's a bunch of Batman-'Tec crossovers to tell 4 issue stories. I really enjoy Grant's character work. A lot of the great stuff in his run is about his relationships with others - particularly Tim, Alfred and Harold. I have to say, though, a lot of my preferred Bruce writing from Grant is actually in Shadow of the Bat.

Frank Miller: 404-407 Okay, restricting this LITERALLY only gives Batman Year One. This is fascinating because I think every single comics person seeing the words 'Frank Miller' and 'Batman' either thinks of ASBAR or Dark Knight Returns.

If you're going to read a Batman Miller story, this is the one to read, no question. It's the origin of so much gritty Batman and it gets referenced a lot, but it's nowhere near as grimdark as other Miller pieces.

Approach: I had quite interesting dreams, so I decided to write them down in the morning. I had planned to write later as well, but in the end a friend came over and slept here, so at least I had the morning "writing".

Time Spent: 20 minutes?

Word count: 559, one word longer! :D

Today's Feelings: They were really strange dreams, at one point I was some kind of ambassador trying to stop the invasion of the Czech land and I had a "breathtaking" disarmament speech in front of hundreds of fighters. It was strange, because I really had to hunt for the words.

First part: "I appeal to you and to your honor, it was the Czechs who took your side during the World War. Do you want our blood on your hands? Many of you are my compatriots by inheritance, many of you speak my language, after your attack, there will be no more Czechia, a piece of your culture will end today if you do not free yourself from the shackles of tyranny and stand up for what you believe in."

SAINT OF THE DAY (November 6)

St. Leonard, also known as Leonard of Noblac, lived during the 5th century.

He was a Frankish saint closely associated with the town and abbey of Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat in Haute-Vienne, Limousin region of France.

During a certian invasion which they were losing, the Queen suggested to Leonard that he invoke the help of God to repel the invading army.

He did and the tide of battle turned, naming Clovis victorious.

Saint Remigius, Bishop of Rheims, then used this miracle to convert King Leonard and a thousand of their followers to Christianity.

Following his conversion, Leonard refused the offer of a See from his grandfather, King Clovis I.

He then began a life of austerity, sanctification, and preaching. His desire to know God grew so strong that he decided to enter the monastery at Orleans.

His brother, Saint Lifiard, followed his example and, leaving the King's court, built a monastery at Meun and lived there.

However, Leonard desired further seclusion, so he withdrew into the forest of Limousin, converting many on the way and living on herbs, wild fruits and spring water.

He built himself an oratory, leaving it only for journeys to churches. Others, recognizing his holiness, begged to live with him, and a monastery was formed.

Leonard had a great compassion for prisoners, and converted many and obtaining their release.

Leonard was also said to have performed miracles during his time.

The most notable miracle was the delivery of a baby for the Queen of Franks, who suffered from a complicated pregnancy.

He was rewarded with several pieces of land at Noble. On a piece of this land, he established the Abbey of Noblac.

He was revered by many, and he almost always drew crowds of people who came to say their respects.

He died of natural causes around 559.

After his death, churches were dedicated to him in France, England, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Bohemia, Poland, and other countries.

Pilgrims flocked to his tomb, and in one small town in Bavaria, there are records of 4,000 favors granted through Saint Leonard's intercession.

His intercession was credited with miracles for the release of prisoners, women in labour, and the diseases of cattle.

His life of compassion and intercession for those in distress earned him this role as protector and helper.
